... Per Sunnergren, Project Manager for Test Site Sweden at Lindholmen Science Park, who assists organizations that are seeking financing for test sites in environmental engineering.

Test sites in environmental engineering, what is that?

“In this context, a test site means a physical or virtual environment in which companies, academia and other organizations are able to collaborate in the development and testing of new products, services or processes in the field of environmental engineering.”

What assistance can you provide to organizations?

“On assignment from VINNOVA, I assist applicants with their financing applications by providing feedback on their presentation, player summary or engineering focus. We also offer advice on test-site construction, application procedure and assessment process. In addition, we organize network activities, for example, the workshop on aquaculture last autumn.”

Who can apply for financing?

“Basically all types of organizations. Companies, universities, colleges, institutes and public organizations are welcome to submit their applications to VINNOVA. ”

For what purposes can financing be sought?

“The aim of VINNOVA’s financing is primarily to support project planning, securing continued financing and development of business concepts.”

Why are test sites needed in the area of environmental engineering?

“Test sites fulfill a key function in the innovation system, in the phase where an idea is about to take the next step from prototype to the market. Testing, verification and access to test sites also fulfil a key function in the renewal of products and services in existing markets.“

“Regulations in this area are continuously becoming stricter. This means that solutions must be found with higher environmental performance. This could mean changing materials, adaptation of manufacturing processes or new certification standards.”

Why is innovation needed in the area of environmental engineering?

“Society urgently needs to convert to more sustainable solutions and test sites are a way to accelerate this conversion by providing opportunities to display improved environmental properties in early development phases. “

“In international terms, Sweden has a very strong position in the field of environment with respect to research and expertise. To be able to share this with the business community will increase competitiveness for sustainable growth and also generate major export opportunities,” says Per.
