Within the framework for the TUCAP (Tekniskt utvecklingscentrum ambulans- och prehospital sjukvård - Technical Development Centre for Ambulance and pre-hospital healthcare) development centre at the Lindholmen Science Park, SEK 4 million is now being invested in new projects. Half of the project is financed by Region Västra Götaland and the rest is financed by other partners.

TUCAP, which was initiated by SOS Alarm, is run by the Lindholmen Science Park in cooperation with Region Västra Götaland, industry experts, researchers and commercial partners. The business is mainly focused on development within communication and information technology to support and improve ambulance alarm systems and pre-hospital healthcare.

"The purpose of TUCAP is to find a new approach to the technical solutions that could improve the ambulance healthcare service's handling of accidents," says Per Palm, Technical Director, SOS Alarm. We will try to find projects that can definitely be put to good use for the ambulance healthcare services.

Particularly interesting development areas are efficient ambulance logistics, communication exchange between the various parties and how new technology can be used to improve ambulance healthcare. This could include video calls, image transfers, Rakel communication, GIS, follow-ups, standardisation requirements, methods and processes.

"TUCAP is an interesting new development initiative with major growth potential. The ambulance technology can be further developed through, for example, collaboration with ongoing research and development projects at Lindholmen within the areas of community safety, intelligent transportation systems and communication and information technology," says Bo Norrhem at Lindholmen Science Park, Project Manager for TUCAP.

Lindholmen Science Park's development environment acts as a natural hub for meetings, workshops, seminars, demonstrations of project results, etc. within TUCAP. Lindholmen already offers the opportunity for TUCAP to take part in projects together with other development projects within community safety and automotive-related businesses.
