Challenges and opportunities with an electric vehicle society

13 maj 2014 12:0013:30
Nordic House, Rue du Luxembourg 3 (8th floor), Brussels
The development and introduction of electric vehicles in our society is predicted to have a significant role in the transition to a transport sector that uses less energy and reduces emissions. Although the development is still in an early phase, there are countries that have chosen to take the lead and where efforts have led to a sharp increase in the number of electric vehicles, such as the Netherlands and Norway.

The relatively modest number of electric vehicles on the road today has so far not led to any significant challenges for the society. However it may not take as many years before there are up to 100,000 electric vehicles in Norway, which already has over 20,000 electric cars on the road. What are the challenges and opportunities that face a society with more than 100,000 electric vehicles on the road, and how will the issues regarding charging the vehicles be tackled? During the seminar Lindholmen Science Park will present conclusions and insights drawn from the EU project North Sea Electric Mobility Network (E-Mobility NSR) as well as from other national and international projects.
