Recycling metals from waste: Concepts, process and a case study
Today an average person in an urban area generate 1,2kg waste per day. To find sustainable ways to deal with waste, now and in the future, is important. This talk will focus on the processes for recovery of metals from waste through solvent extraction, as well as discuss concepts and challenges encountered along the way. One challenge that will be discussed is recycling of rare-earth metals in permanent magnets. Marino Gergoric, Mikhail Tyumentsev and Toni Gutknecht Ph.D., students at the department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering present their research.
