Seattle impressed by “the Nordic countries' astonishing ability to lead innovation”

Thursday, May 25, 2023

Future Mobility just participated in the Nordic Innovation Summit 2023, presented by the Washington State Department of Commerce. This event brought together visionaries, trailblazers, and leaders from the Nordic countries and the United States, all focused on the theme of "Sustaining Sustainability in a Rapidly Changing World."

The summit showcased a wide range of thought-provoking sessions and engaging discussions that left us inspired and motivated to drive positive change in the field of sustainable mobility.

“A saying that came up often during the days in Seattle was "punch above their weight", which was said as a way to describe the Nordic countries' astonishing ability to lead innovation in so many areas.” – Anders Dalén, our Future Mobility colleague based in the USA.

The event took place at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, which beautifully reflected the innovative spirit of the Nordic region.

Throughout the summit, we explored a diverse array of topics, from groundbreaking advancements in the fishing industry led by Iceland to the emergence of electric trucks (Volta Trucks) and motorboats (X Shore | 100% Electric Boats). The commitment of the Nordic region to environmental innovation resonated strongly throughout the event. The format, reminiscent of TED talks, featured speakers who shared compelling stories filled with humanity and a profound desire for change.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the summit was the surprising juxtaposition of a forward-looking event being hosted by a museum, National Nordic Museum. As we delved deeper into conversations with the organizers, we discovered that the museum served as a cover for their shared interest in creating sustainable change. Through our collaboration with our friends in Seattle, we can continue to spar against the heavyweights and drive transformative progress.

Stay tuned as we continue to drive innovation and collaborate on groundbreaking projects that will shape the future of mobility.
