Three innovative companies ready to expand

Friday, November 26, 2010

Mindmancer, Capee Group and Protaurius have all shown that they are ready to expand of their own accord and so the Chalmers Innovation companies will graduate on 25 November.

Developments at the company incubator have been crucial to the growth of these companies.

Chalmers Innovation is represented at two locations in Göteborg; Chalmers Johanneberg and Lindholmen Science Park. Since it was established in 1999, Chalmers Innovation has been involved in the start up of 100 companies. In 2009 the companies had a total turnover of 360 million SEK and had 400 employees. Over the years, 1.24 billion SEK has been invested in the companies. These results mean that Chalmers Innovation is Sweden's leading concept investor and company incubator.

The three companies that are now leaving Chalmers Innovation work in different fields and are also different in character, but Chalmers Innovation's CEO, Olle Stenberg, also sees likenesses between them which have paved the way for their success:

"All three companies are run by motivated entrepreneurs, and they all have obvious international potential. Management is good in all cases, through their executive personnel and their boards, and they all have products that are sought after," says Olle Stenberg.

Capee Group develops and sells software that radically shortens the time needed to remedy operational problems within all process industries, which is beneficial both economically and environmentally. Over the past year the company has done good business within several process industries including biofuel and energy. They are expecting to be able to expand significantly during 2011 and to move into new client segments.

Mindmancer, which is based at Lindholmen, is also expected to grow further. The company develops and sells software for cost effective surveillance with a focus on safeguarding integrity. They provide surveillance solutions for building sites, controlled areas and schools as well as camera monitoring. During 2010 they have become established in Poland, Finland and Norway. It is primarily school surveillance solutions for preventive measures against damage and fire that have created the most interest. The company expects to be able to establish itself in several other countries next year.

In the case of Protaurius, almost all their customers lie outside Sweden, and they already have business activities underway in 37 countries. During 2010 collaboration has intensified with international partners covering 60 countries. The company develops and sells a patented ceramic bullet proof material which shields against firing in a completely new way. Their customers are among armed forces, police forces, rescue services as well as civilian organisations, for example hotels and embassies, working in hazardous environments. Protaurius is expecting further international expansion next year.
