Lindholmen labs – where reality meets the digital world
Imagine a living lab in an urban environment, where you can seamlessly move between the digital and physical world, to conduct innovative tests in mobility, civil engineering and energy.
At Lindholmen in Gothenburg, the vision is to create a national research and innovation infrastructure in the form of a living lab at district level, the Reality lab. This lab aims to integrate the digital and physical environment, to accelerate the step from simulated solutions to practical experiments in real life situations. This will encourage and enable experimentation that addresses complex societal challenges and reform existing regulations.
Today a feasibility study is underway to explore what challenges actors in business, academia and public sector face and how a living lab in a digital and physical environment can help to overcome these challenges.
We want to build knowledge around what functions this reality lab needs to include in order to contribute to sustainable social development. Both in a short- and long-term perspective.
The feasibility study builds on a preliminary study conducted in collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, Business Region Gothenburg and Lindholmen Science Park.
