Metaverse theme for this year's Lindholmen Software Development Day

On October 27, 750 software developers and their managers gathered at Lindholmen to take part in this year's edition of Lindholmen Software Development Day - an event organized for the 18th time with the theme Connecting Realities.

Lindholmen Software Development Day is a neutral arena for industry-wide knowledge sharing in software development with the aim of contributing to innovations, new collaborations and companies and to further strengthen the IT area in Gothenburg and Sweden. The event will offer ground-breaking free seminars around a theme and be a meeting place for industry, academia and society. The event is financed by a number of main sponsors together with the sale of exhibition spaces at the event. This year, the program committee consisted of representatives from Ericsson, Chalmers, Göteborgs universitet, Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, IBM, Nexer, Combitech, HiQ, Capgemini, Wireless Car, Knowledge Agency, Technogarden, QRTECH, Business Region Göteborg, Invest i Halland, Högskolan i Halmstad, Swedsoft och Lindholmen Science Park.

Many visitors wanted to test Volvo's VR equipment.

Christo Peev tests the VR simulator from Volvo. Christo is the CEO of Motion-Software in Bulgaria and together with his colleague Vasil Tuchkov he was one of the speakers in the Business track.

Around 35 exhibiting companies did their best to entertain the visitors and for those who wanted to test VR there were four rooms with VR equipment from Volvo, the Orust company Nanco and the research program Visual Arena here at Lindholmen Science Park.

Gorki Glaser–Müller introduces Lina Bodestad, UX psychologist and Business Track speaker, to the Svalbard project.

With Gorki Glaser–Müller from Visual Arena, visitors could take part in a strong visual experience of the climate changes in Svalbard through VR, 3D models and storytelling. Filmmaker Gorki was recently together with researcher Tyrone Martinsson and glaciologist Erik Mannerfelt on an expedition to Svalbard where they filmed in VR to explore how visual tools can be used to enhance the depiction of and increase engagement in climate issues.
