Connecting games, people, and innovation across the ecosystem
GameLab strengthens innovation capacity and learning between different sectors and the broader ecosystem around games, including education, public actors, and other areas that intersect with game development.
In collaboration with regional partners and industry actors, GameLab contributes to developing long-term strategies that address the needs of the games industry inside the ecosystem of Västra Götaland.
Through interactive workshops, game jams, and hands-on activities, GameLab creates opportunities for new ideas, approaches, and applications where game development meets perspectives from different industries. Participants have the opportunity to turn ideas into practice, connect with others, and develop technical skills through a combination of hands-on creation and digital tools.
For many participants, these activities also serve as a first introduction to game development. The combination of practical creation, learning, and experimentation lowers barriers to entry and creates opportunities to develop further within the games industry.
Through gamified events, networking activities, and studio visits, GameLab brings together people who might not otherwise have met, creating relationships, deeper understanding, and new connections across the wider games ecosystem.
GameLab’s experience in innovation, communication, and community building also helps strengthen how the game industry connects and develops over time. Through its broad engagement across the larger ecosystem, GameLab helps identify emerging needs, connect actors, and contribute to long-term development within the industry.
GameLab’s previous work through Level Up, a project focused on mapping needs and supporting the development of the games industry in Västra Götaland, has led to the Gothenburg Game Hub, an ongoing initiative to strengthen the game industry in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland.
Gothenburg Game Hub is an ongoing initiative focused on creating a strategy to strengthen the game industry in Gothenburg and Västra Götaland. By bringing together actors from Skövde and Gothenburg, the initiative seeks to respond to the needs identified in the region.
The work builds on insights from Level Up and focuses on developing shared structures, coordinated communication, and long-term collaboration among companies, organizations, and public actors.
The initiative is led in collaboration by Lindholmen Science Park, Science Park Skövde, Sweden Game Arena, and Business Region Göteborg, while actively engaging the broader regional ecosystem.
